  • To professionalise the informal practice of seeking support from peer coaches, which may at times not serve/limit the resourcefulness of coaches

What is PEER Supervision?

Its the practice of two or more coaches meeting periodically to:

  • Reflect on their coaching work purposefully;
  • Support and develop coaches so they continue to learn about themselves and their work;
  • Offer valuable professional support to other coaches in order to ensure the quality of coaching  practice.

Core Purpose of PEER Supervision practice

Supervision is considered a powerful vehicle for deep learning: its benefits extend beyond the supervisee and include their clients and sponsoring organisations.

Coaches come to supervision for their identified/discovered reasons and are served in many different ways; broadly to enhance their wellbeing and develop the practice of coaches of all levels of experience. 

The Functions of supervision described by Hawkins and Smith (2013) are as follows:

  • The Developmental Function: Concerned with development of skills, understanding and capacities of the coach.
  • The Resourcing Function : Providing a supportive space for the coach to process the experiences they have had when working with clients.
  • The Qualitative Function : Concerned with quality, work standards and ethical integrity.

Who is this program for?

Experienced Coaches with 200+ hours of client coaching experience.

Why learn PEER Supervision?

“We can’t see what we can’t see”—thus the formal learning.

Coaches are well- intentioned professionals. But in order to support another coach, one needs additional competencies, different mindset, resources, training, self-development, structure and frameworks, most importantly “no-stakes” agenda.

“I can’t teach you what I don’t know myself. But we can definitely learn a lot more together.”

What PEER Supervision need “NOT” be?

Restricted to seek/provide ONLY advice from/to other coaches. You will not need training for that.

Program Duration/Delivery /Format

18 hours ; Twelve sessions of 90 min each; over 3 months; one session a week; Virtual using the Zoom platform

How will this program benefit a coach?

In addition to learning the art of PEER Coach Supervision to support other coaches, you will experience Coach Supervision while being in the program. Receiving and Providing regular Coach Supervision builds your own Internal Supervisor. A well cultivated Internal Supervisor serves a coach in times of ethical conflicts, confusion, uncertainty and challenging coaching situations.

Receiving Coach Supervision is mandatory by the European and Australian Coaching bodies whereas the International Coach Federation (ICF) recognising it as a form of Continuous Professional Development for its credentialed coaches.
